Why
Colombia?
Mention you are planning a trip to
Colombia to most people in the USA and
you will be met with incredulous stares.
Hadn't I read the official State
Department warnings, don't I watch the
news?
Why would
any sane person want to go to Colombia?
I must admit that I at first had a bit
of apprehension and concern, but after
researching Colombia more fully on the
Internet I began to realize that, hey
this might be fun. And to be truthful I
don't believe much the press or the US
government tells me about other nations.

What actually led up to my
wife & I embarking on this little adventure was
the weak US dollar versus the Euro and the British
pound, you see we were planning another trip to the UK
where I am from and perhaps a week in Spain where my
wife & I would like to visit. However Bush
economics made that trip uneconomical for us.
We thought about
possibly going to Argentina or Chile, places that
interest us; but then I though hey hang on, what about
Colombia? After all my wife is Colombian. We have been
married for over 10 years and not once had I gone to
visit her country. So it was settled. Colombia here we
come!

¿Por
qué Colombia?
Si menciona que va a viajar a Colombia, la mayoría de la gente en los Estados Unidos le va a preguntar con incredulidad si no ha escuchado las advertencias oficiales del Departamento de Estado, o si nunca ve las noticias.
¿Por que alguien querría ir a Colombia? Tengo que admitir que al principio estaba preocupado y aprehensivo, pero después de investigar acerca de Colombia en el Internet, me di cuenta de que podría ser divertido. Y la verdad es que no creo mucho en lo que la prensa o el gobierno de los Estados Unidos dicen acerca de otros países. |

Lo que en realidad nos llevo a mi esposa y a mi a embarcarnos en esta pequeña aventura fue el poco valor del
dólar versus el Euro y la libra inglesa. Nosotros estábamos planeando otro viaje a Inglaterra, de donde yo soy, y quizá una semana en España, la cual mi esposa y yo queríamos visitar. La política económica de
Bush hizo que el viaje fuera costoso para nosotros.
Pensamos ir a Argentina o Chile, lugares que nos interesan, pero entonces pensé:
"¿Por qué no Colombia? Después de todo mi esposa es
colombiana. Hemos estado casados por 10 años y nunca he visitado su país. Estaba decidido,
¡Colombia aquí vamos!
